How to reach Erice

There are many flights to Palermo and Trapani.

A transfer from the airports to Erice and back will be organized by the School using shuttle cars or minivans that will wait for groups of participants at the airport. Upon the arrival, the driver will be waiting with a poster of the Ettore Majorana Centre. The service is free for participants. In order to be able to offer the service we ask participants to send us details (arrival time, flight number etc.) as soon as they are available.

Please, consider that, without information, the transfer service cannot be arranged and you can take a taxi ride, which can be expensive and is not refundable.

Accommodation

Accommodation of participants is organized by the Ettore Majorana Centre. The lodgings will be provided either in the premises of the Centre or in local hotels, all at walking distance from the conference site (San Domenico) and with free Wi-Fi available. As some accommodations (especially for young students) will be in double rooms, we would like to ask if you have any preferences as to the choice of roommate.

Meals

Breakfast is served at San Rocco coffee area (from 7:30 to 9:00) to all participants accommodated in the Centre premises, while participants accommodated in Erice hotels may have their breakfast there or at San Rocco. Lunch and dinner will be at restaurants which work in connection with the Centre (please notice that drinks are not included). Details and list of restaurants will be given at your arrival. Meals at restaurants are included in the fee: you only have to show your badge and sign a list provided by the restaurant. If you have special food needs, you can ask directly to the restaurant staff.

Coffee, tea, sandwiches, fresh fruit, Sicilian sweets and mineral water are freely available 24h in the San Rocco coffee area and in the coffee break area of San Domenico.

Weather

Erice is a village sited at the top of a small mountain (750 meters above sea level) and there the climate is a bit different from the other parts of Sicily. Even in summer it is not really hot and in the evening it is a bit windy.
